D20 Vineyards Mock Logo

My friend Tara has entered a facebook contest being held by Crushpad, where people vote on different fictional wineries, and whoever gets the most votes gets their wine made. Or something like that. Honestly, I didn’t read too much about it. She voted for me when I was in the pop chips VP of Pop Culture contest, so I returned the favor.

While I was in Rome, she made some mock labels (In MS Paint!!! O.o) for her “Dark Side” and “Light Side” Chardonnays. When I got back, she asked me if I could design her a legit logo for this dream winery. It’s been a while since I’ve done any logo work, and I wanted to help her out, so I said yes. Here is what I came up with:

For those of you who don’t know what a “D20” is, it’s a 20 sided die that is used in role-playing games. She and I used to be in a D&D group back in college with my husband and our friends. (What? Don’t look at me like that. It’s not like we had capes or little figurines…just pieces of paper and booze. It was awesome.) I hope the logo gets her some extra votes!

Here is a little bit about the would-be D20 Vineyards, in case you wanted to vote for her.

Geek culture has expanded into almost all parts of life, except your wine. Yes, you like Sci-Fi, maybe some Doctor Who; you like to game on the weekends with you friends, go to cons, and read online comics; you read ACTUAL comics and rage at everything the movie adaption does wrong; but does that mean you do’ t like wine? D20 Vineyards says let your geek flag fly! Pick up a couple of our wines and enjoy it with your friends! Whether is it a bottle of our Red Shirt – Bordeaux Blend (so good it will be gone in an hour) or Flawless Victory – Savignon Blanc (for your Smash Brothers Tourney) you will love our wines made just for you. Wines by Geeks for Geeks.

If you can’t get over the fact that I used to play D&D, maybe you’ll be comforted that I don’t get the references in her description.

  • I have never seen Dr. Who.
  • I think the red shirts is a Star Trek reference? Are the red shirt guys the ones that always die first?
  • I have no idea what Smash Brothers is. Is that a Mario Bros. game?

So there. I’m still normal…ish.
