I’m in Rome HolyCowYay

Hi! We’re in Rome! It is amazing. Last night and tonight, I’ve woken myself up coughing, so I thought I would pop in and say hello. It’s weird; I actually thought I was getting better. I hardly blew my nose today, even without taking medicine…but night time is a whole different story.

Anyway, Italian-Italian food is amazeballs and I didn’t think there could be that much of a difference, but THERE IS OMG. I have so much to share, and it’s only the second (third? …third) day! But for now, I think I’ll try to go back to sleep. See you when I get back to the states!

Ok Cold, You Can Go Away Now…

I’m still sick. Not the same “Oh God, help me I can’t function” sick as when I last blogged, but my nose is still stuffy and I have a cough that has irritated my throat and is causing me to lose my voice. Not cool. Also, there was phlegm this morning that made me feel like I was choking. Over this.

This is made even worse by the fact that my parents are going to be here tomorrow. They’re watching The Munchkin while John and I go to Rome. That’s right; Rome, ITALY. So this cold needs to go away. Those are our awesome mug shots passport photos above. We leave next week, and I really hope to be better by then.

It’s going to be hard to be away from The Munchkin for so long (I’ve never even spent the night away from him!) but I’m sure I’ll be fine in the end. I mean…ROME! The time period that’s passed since John has returned from Afghanistan is the longest he’s been home in one stretch since he joined the army. We need this break to be us for a while. Not parents, but a couple; like we were for the 10 years before we started our family. I think that’s important for every relationship. Maybe not something as grand as Rome for everyone, but something you know? It’s crazy how quickly you forget how to be anything but caregivers.

I do have my reservations about my parents “breaking” my baby, or spoiling him mad while we’re gone, but his sleep schedule has all been ruined by this cold, so maybe they’ll be the ones to break, hahaha. It’s been a while since they’ve been around a toddler 24/7! Ultimately, I’m sure it will be fine.

In the meantime, my house has never been cleaner, which doesn’t make sense because I’m home all the time anyway. But there you have it. I’ve also caught up on the entire series of Downton Abbey. I’m kind of obsessed.

Ugh, I’m so sick of blowing my nose.
