I might still hate exercise, but at least I’m trying. A lot of people on my instagram feed have been talking about various “Couch to 5k” programs, and I figured it was something I could do too. Now, don’t get me wrong – I don’t like running. Never have, probably never will. At the same time, I don’t see myself doing a program like Insanity or P90X or whatever. These couch to 5k programs require 30 minutes 3 times a week. For the time being, (I say that because of the weather…there were snow flurries earier this week. Wut.) that is something I can do. We started out as a family doing it – John “rucking” while pushing the boys in the jogging stroller, and me running/walking according to the prompts in the c25k app I downloaded onto my phone.
There’s one trail on post that we regualry use and it works perfectly with my program: by the time I’m done we’re at the end of the trail. Once there, we walk home and I push the boys. If we bring Kipp, I run/walk with her, then John takes her for the walk back.
When I do this during the week, I do it with my neighbor. She brings her kids along with her, and we’re just a mess of awkward runners, double strollers, and one take on the photo because the kids are crying. Good times. I’ve only finished my first week, but I’m proud that I haven’t given up yet, and I think I can keep it going. That being said, I’m still using the free version of my app because I don’t trust myself just yet not to give up. They say it takes 15 days to form a habit…does that still work when you’re only working out 3x a week?
